A New home for Coeliac UK Members.

Coeliac UK has been assisting people with coeliac disease and other gluten-related illnesses lead happier, healthier lives for more than 50 years. They achieve this by working to improve the quality of gluten-free food available in more locations, offering their community unbiased, reliable guidance and assistance, and financing important research to not only manage the effects of gluten but also uncover the causes of coeliac disease.

Coeliac UK came to Arch looking to create a unified app experience to replace their existing offering, which at the time consisted of two apps with distinct functionality. Additionally, the development of the new application had to take place under a strict development timeline in order to meet the timeframes set for the retirement of their app offering. Coeliac UK had a strong sense of what they wanted to achieve through the introduction of the new app, and which functionality would be core to fulfilling their goals.

Built in the industry renowned development framework, Flutter, the app functions beautifully across Android and iOS, and is generated from a single codebase.  The app backend, built in Laravel is extremely efficient, layering in multiple API calls concurrently while handling effortlessly. We utilise a suite of in house developed tools in order to ensure code quality is of the highest standard. The Coeliac UK App integrates seamlessly with their membership management CRM.

The new app aimed to simplify user experience by providing all necessary information in one place. Unlike previous versions with external sign-up procedures, the sign-up process was integrated into the app to streamline subscriptions and enhance onboarding.We utilised Coeliac UK's brand identity to create a user-friendly experience, with clear calls to action throughout, enabling users to quickly find relevant content.

To ensure accessibility, we adhered to WCAG 2.1 guidelines, reviewing font sizes, colour contrast, layout, and navigation. We followed design best practices to address key issues, ensuring a balanced layout with a logical visual hierarchy. Sitemaps and user flows were also considered to enhance overall usability.
